Wanting to know if any one can help me out? I have a automatic/fuelinjected 1980 spyder with a bad pinion/ring gear.Can I put a rear end from a manual transmission car in its place? What would be the differance? What years can I use?

i'm lead to believe the Auto and Manual's had different ratio's?? Can anybody confirm??
In any case the manual rear end is 3.9
So yes you can swap, if the ratio is different you will notice it have more acceleration but not so good on the freeway

Different ratios, It wont work properly. If I recall correctly the auto is a 3,55.

lower top speed but much more acceleration

You can use it, but as Mark said a lower gear ratio. My auto 124 revs to much to suit me with the 3.54 ratio. That just me though you may be happy with the 3.90 manual diff. I have a auto rear end that I took out of a parts car if you are interested.
