endless coolant loss

Post by georgeramos »

So I thought I had the coolant loss thing beat but...there still seems to be a tiny bit of loss happening. It seems to happen even when the car is not running. Is that possible without any visible leaks? I changed the oil today and there didn't seem to be any coolant/oil mix so thats good. I have the Tee at the heater hose and I top it off, 10 minutes later it can take another 1/4 oz or so, later same, seemingly forever. where the hell is it going?

You mat still have air in the system. Also Take off the spark plug and see if there is coolant on top the piston and make sure your carpet under the heater core is not wet.

Borrowing the pressure tester from Auto Zone or Advance Auto might solve your problem. It did for me more than once. Pressure it up to 15 psi and you should find you leak. My T wouldn't seal and dripped under pressure. Previously I had a leak in the line running back of the motor to the choke. They were so small that the anti-freeze burned off and never hit the ground.

Check your cap too.
