just a sunday drive

Post by azruss »

Took time for an absolutely delightful Sunday drive. left the house about 9:30 with the temps at a cool 90 degrees. Ran up the back way to Wickenburg and out Old Vulture Mine road. this road run over the top of a hill and follows the terrain. Well paved 2 laner without much traffic. a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 for difficulty. The only part of any difficulty is 3- 25 mph corners in the middle of a bunch of 35 to 45 mph corners. I was not making much of an effort to slow down for corners so was taking the 25 milers at 55. The corner in the middle was a right hander against a steep cut-out in the hill. Some small rocks had broken loose in the heat and scattered across the road in a narrow line in front of me. Without lifting my foot got ready for some slide action. Slide it did in a straight line moving me over about 6" requiring no steering adjustment on my part. The addition of a rear sway bar has made this car very stable and predictable in the corners. No muss, no fuss. On the way back, i was following a couple of Harleys, so drove much slower and relaxed. By the time i got home 3 hours later, heat was upon me and ready to call it a day. A beautiful drive through Saquaros and some smaller cacti just getting ready to bloom. It was sweet.
