Honestly they'd probably sue for ownership before they bothered to buy it, if they even wanted it. Years ago FIAT gave Chris Obert hell for calling his company fiatplus and using fiatplus.com - or so the story goes - to the point he changed it to C. Obert & Co.; though fiatplus.com still resolves to his site.

Yesterday I had the same discussion on one of the two major German Fiat 124 Spider forums.
I wrote there:

or in English:
For my domain Fiat has no legal basis whatsoever: I do owe the domain already 6 years and
1. the Fiat 124 Spider was in 2009 already a very long time not in production anymore and at that time could not cause any commercial disadvantage or damage to Fiat
2. in 2009 there was not any discussion or plan to bring out a new Fiat under the historic Fiat 124 Spider name again.

As someone who's been in the DNS world for a while, he has a legit claim to that domain. I'm not saying that they won't sue to try and get it, but he does have legal claim to it. He hasn't been squatting on it, as some people do. He has actually been using it.
