I am sure this video is already on the forum somewhere, but I just found it today and thought I would share.

Re: Spider 1980 dealer video
I wonder if any of the "competition" of the era had more advanced suspension, ie, four wheel independent. I guess Corvettes (competition?) had a transverse leaf at some point.

If you consider a transverse leaf spring to be independent suspension, then the 850, 600, and 500 were independent

Transverse spring can be independent - spring on each side.

Re: Spider 1980 dealer video
Nissan/Datsun Z-cars, BMW, and Mercedes all had 4 wheel independent suspension by the 70s. I'm sure there are others.
A transverse leaf can be independent or not, depending on how the rest of the suspension is set up. Since the middle of the leaf spring is bolted to the body, it's two ends act independently. On a model T the ends of the spring are bolted to a solid axle, so the resulting suspension is not independent.

My favorite part of the video is a quick still photo of the interior taken from the passenger side. Both the front seats are completely reclined. Perhaps a subliminal message about what you could be doing in the Spider...Hmmm??

"Covered by FIAT's corrosion protection warranty." I always cringe when I see that video and the guy is driving through a puddle. You're just tempting fate - and probably voiding the warranty - by driving through water.
