Hi all. Hope someone has had this issue and might be able to provide some insight.
I removed my steering column to get access to some of the electrical beneath the dash. Upon reinstalling the steering column and wheel, there seems to be an unusual amount of play in the wheel. When I say "play", I mean the actual shaft in the column. When I reinstall the steering wheel, and tighten the nut as much as possible, I can still move the wheel up and down and side to side. It almost feels like there may be a bushing or something missing from within the column.
Any help or insight would be extremely helpful. I have looked for diagrams of the column to compare it to what I have, or to see if there are possible missing pieces, but I have not had any luck.
Loose Steering Shaft/Column
Re: Loose Steering Shaft/Column
there is a bearing near the top that may be worn or damaged
Re: Loose Steering Shaft/Column
Thanks Mark. That felt like what it might be.
Any chance I might be able to source one from you? If so, I will contact you directly. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Loose Steering Shaft/Column
Or the bearing may just have walked up the shaft and popped out.

I will pull the column apart and take a look. Thanks Csaba.

Ditto - Especially if there was no play before you dropped it to work on the dash.vandor wrote:Or the bearing may just have walked up the shaft and popped out.
