Spider as daily driver
Re: Spider as daily driver
I drive mine a lot of the time. any weather. Been really reliable, but I also am always tweaking little stuff and noticing things before they are a problem. Nothing but fun.

Re: Spider as daily driver
My tired and rusty '73 is a daily driver except when there is salt on the roads. As others have said, if you keep after all the maintenance and pay attention to how the car changes, these can be very reliable. I have had experience with Fiats for many years (both growing up with Dad's and my own) and once you get in "tune" with your car, you will be reasonably confident to take them on any trip. Safety is a genuine concern, though, since modern cars really are much more crashworthy; you need to use your own judgement on that to see what risk you are willing to accept.

Re: Spider as daily driver
Wow, thanks y'all. Yes, I am keeping mine now.
I had it insepected since I am by no means a mechanic although, I do want to and have been getting my hands dirty fixing it up. It is in the shop for the first time since I bought it and they didn't find too much. A couple of miner suspension and steering things which are being fixed.
I like the idea of giving it a run down every Saturday morning. Will do that.
Thanks again.

Re: Spider as daily driver
My '75 is also a daily driver for now. About 24 miles a day to work and home. I can't really take it out on the weekends due to having one more small child than I can safely fit in the car and wife working weekends. The only problems I have had over the duration (two years) are things caused by neglect and ignorance of the previous owner(s).
