Carburetor Question

Post by Shadoobie »

So I have a 1979 2000cc Spider with the 28/32 ADHA carb on it, and am looking to replace it. I have ordered a 34 DMSA and a single plane 1800cc manifold, and I would like to know for certain if they are compatible. I can't find any reason to think that it wouldn't be after I replaced the manifold, but I would like to know for certain. If so, any tips to ensure that the replacement goes along smoothly? I am vastly unexperienced, but I am always ready to learn.

the new intake won't cover the egr crossover in the cylinder head. You'll have to either change the exhaust manifold or plug the egr tube to prevent an exhaust leak

The easiest thing is to cut and crimp the EGR tube.

cut and crimp sounds so final, and irreversible

I saw a post where they slipped a thin piece of sheet metal under the connection on the exhaust side of the block.

That's what I did. Looks better than a cut and crimp. Considered putting a tiny muffler on the EGR tube (kidding).

i couldn't undo the studs on the exhaust side easily, so i used a welsh plug on the intake side. I think it was 14.5mm. Works a treat
