Metal Fuel Line- What size needed?

Post by Fiat88 »

I guess the old metal fuel lines in my '79 rotted out, as the PO installed rubber lines and ran them under the car. I notice that they are getting old and want to run metal ones through the inside like the factory did but need information on what length, size, and metal type I should get? Anyone have a diagram or picture on how the lines run, I see the 2 grommets in the floor pan behind the drivers seat and the other 2 through the drivers side engine firewall.

Supply is 1/4", vent and return is 5/16". I used about 13 feet for each run, but my '73 runs on the underside of the car. There are some newer metallic alloys out there that can be bent by hand. I used Cunifer, but have since discovered that there are others available at most generic auto parts stores that are less-expensive. You won't need any special clamps, hose or flaring tool, as your carb system is low-pressure.

Fiat88,
Please let me know what I need to get. I have to do mine soon too. I don't want to guess on the length.
I think I'll go with stainless also.
Thanks
:P

Will do Brady! I'm gonna try to do it this month as I had my last final today so I can devote more time to the Fiat. So, flaring the ends is not required? I'll probably need to buy a brake/fuel line bender from eastwood, though.

It's two lengths of 5/16" and one 1/4", that much we know. I was working from memory which went where (and that transmission was heavy  ). I defer to Mr. Matt on the hookup.

It's amazing that you don't have one huge arm Bernie. I now see it must take a lot out of you though to hold that tranny to confuse you.

On mine the hard lines end at the fender wall and there are hoses that connect to the barbs on the carburetor.
