Must have done - actually I suspect it was Mrs Topless' occupation that did it.

Hager try refused to insure me unless my car would be kept in a garage (a canvas cover in the parking lot would not be acceptable) and also the rep was very clear that I would be covered only for driving to and from car shows. I sled about taking other kinds of trips, and she said, well if we find out it wasn't a show we won't pay it.

:? Things must be a little different south of the border with Hagerty. I pay $180 CDN ( 27 cents American  ) a year with no restrictions and when my car was damaged by a cyclist (see here http://fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php ... =+accident) the rate did not change. They have been incredible to deal with and I update them yearly with any improvements etc and the agreed upon value is increased (currently $12,000 CDN approx $1.58 American 8)

Yeah, that's pretty much in line with what I was quoted. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, as things are delaying me actually getting my Spider home. *grumble*

So long as it's (a) garaged and (b) not my daily driver, there's no mileage limit on what they quoted me. Rate was ~$130 US per year for 2 drivers, and they have a thing for work-in-progress cars - you start off with an agreed value, and it goes up by 10% every three months. My starting value would have been $3000, on that quote. No pictures or other documentation needed.

I'm not sure where some of these other stories are coming from. The quote I got recently - and your experience - are also in line with my experiences with Hagerty back in the late 1990's / early 2000's, when I had a series of old Saabs - 95/96/99/Sonett/etc, and my first Spider.
