Re: Fiat Dino
I can really see what a hard decision choosing a color can be for such a rare and beautiful car. I'd be pulling my hair out to! I mean, anyone that see's this car will likely be seeing the one and only Dino they ever see in their lifetimes, so you really want to get it right.
I'm kind of hesitant to give an opinion on color, because it is personal and only the owner knows what he wants this car to say to people, but since you asked, after a bit of thought, I like your choice of dark aubergine. It's a very rich color and very classy. It says luxury more than sport, but that's OK. I normally would go for Ferrari red, because it has Ferrari roots in that engine and it is such an Italian car color. As one poster said though, this car would look good in camo!
Just wondering, did you get to drive her at all before she went in for the restoration?

There are some glaring errors in the owner's narrative, but still a great video to watch.

What I found cool was the identical proportion between the two cars; my 13" CD3s and Malcom's 14" CD1's on his slightly larger car. I can only imagine what those puppies are worth.Exit98 wrote:Love those wheels.

When I see those two cars side by side I wonder if some kitcar maker ever thought of a kit based on the 124 to fake a dino.baltobernie wrote:What I found cool was the identical proportion between the two cars; my 13" CD3s and Malcom's 14" CD1's on his slightly larger car. Re: Fiat Dino
Interesting thought, but I don't think there is much of a demand for Fiat Dino's. Most people, motorheads included, don't even know what a Fiat Dino looks like, or that Fiat ever built them. It's definitely a specialty car.westy64 wrote:When I see those two cars side by side I wonder if some kitcar maker ever thought of a kit based on the 124 to fake a dino.baltobernie wrote:What I found cool was the identical proportion between the two cars; my 13" CD3s and Malcom's 14" CD1's on his slightly larger car. That said, I'd be first in line for one!
Re: Fiat Dino
Finally some progress , Just delivered my little baby to my preferred classic car restorer after sitting for almost a year…
Will be taking her completely apart for a blastdown and see what we have to work with.
And so the long awaited journey begins…:)

Just curious, are you going to keep the yellow? Is it original?

Re: Fiat Dino
We can already identify Green and Red with the main colour now Yellow but won't know for sure until we start removing all the layers of paint…Unfortunately there is no colour stamp , being one of the very first Series 1 , 1967 (build 000456) I believe it wasn't until 1968 that colour stamps were introduced…
I do admit to having looked at several hundred photo's of dino's looking for the right colour but have to say the galliano fly yellow is growing on me and is original to the car…
Cheers
