spider exhust
Hi from London . . I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the exhaust system on their spider. . I wand to get it sounding more 'beefy '.than it does now it sound quite nice as it is but I've always felt it could do with a bigger muffler to give it a deeper tone . .

You want a nice sound?
Go to dual carbs up front.
The exhaust will no longer be a concern.

when i bought my current car, it had a cat and resonator and a glass pack for a muffler. Sounded better than stock. replaced it with a system that eliminated the resonator and replaced the glass pack with a "free flow" muffler. It has about the same loudness as the original, but the sound is more refined with a nice low tone. As stated above, dual carbs emit a nice throaty sound when you get on it.

the only ones in Europe i've found to do an aftermarket exhaust is Spider point (Germany) Haven't heard their system, but let us know if you find anyone nearer to home.....

I just changed my exhaust from a straight pipe to SpiderPoints aftermarket system, including the cat. The new system is a low rumble, very nice. Exhaust smell is a lot better too, both when driving (down pointed end tube) and idling (no non burned gas anymore). The straight pipe was awful.

thanks for the feedback. I'm considering their stainless system too.

I bought an ss exhaust system from the cat back from Fun. I had fit problems. The muffler hangers were located wrong. I had to shortened the pipe lead into the muffler and remount the hangers (muffler hung too low). I also cut off the end tip as it was too long. The end length would probably be ok if you are still running with big bumpers. I took it down to my local muffler shop for the mods. Cost me about $90 as i recall.

Some are telling me on the TurboDiesel I will only need a straight pipe. Right now it has a Rube Goldberg system that misses all the factory hangers.
Is there a good pictoral that shows a properly routed exhaust down the right side of the car? I get the impression that one exhaust mount is a bar mounted across the transmission so all the flex is between that and the rear of the car.
