Bye Bye Bumpers!

Post by KillerB »

Just got my new bumper blocks today! (from Germany) I can't wait to install them this winter. Does anybody have any tidbits of advise or personal anecdotes or tips WRT this cosmetic modification?

I measured the holes behind the front bumper for signal lights, and found them to be approx 14cm wide and 10cm high. So they should accommodate 2 10 X 7cm marker lights from Walmart nicely. I've read that older Dodge/Mitsubishi Colt signal lights fit the holes as well, can anyone here confirm this?

You might want to check to see if the cutouts are square before getting your hopes up on an easy installation of turn signal housings.

your spider will sit about 1-1.5 inches higher (it's been sooo long, i'm only guessing) so keep that in mind.

Guess I'll have to read up some of the lowering/spring

Guess I'll have to read up some of the lowering/spring articles in the forum as well then. My car sits pretty high now, which is good for avoiding bad road conditions and potholes... Nova Scotia is full of em'

and Installed them today.

It took a bit longer than I expected. There was a slight dent in my gas tank (no leak) it just pushed the side out enough to make it difficult to lift the tank. So that one bolt doubled the work time... About 5 hours.

Sophia looks a bit leaner and meaner now!

Next week I try to buckshee some front signal lights.

Look 'n good KillerB...I have been think 'n of doing something similar to what the VW's used on the Cal bug look...basically a T-bar style welded to the piece that sticks out from the body...or something along the lines of the the Ford cobra bumpers...but not sure yet...I will say yours looks really cool 8)

I thought about the little oval chrome bumperetts from a Cobra, but couldn't find any... She's still an on going project. I'm still not satisfied with the front signals. Hopefully I'll have an eureka moment and figure out a better arrangement or replacement. (I've yet to measure the lights on the Pontiac Montana!)

Hello,

I used "Factory Five" Lucas units used on their Cobra kits. Am very pleased with them (although as a Fiat owner, I shouldn't allow Lucas on an Italian car!) They are small enough to give you more leeway on their placement.
