New Baffled Fiat Spider Fuel Tank

Post by Ramzi »

Mark,

You will be the very 1st person in the US to receive a new Fiat 124 Spider baffled fuel tank. Folks asked for them, so we had them made and they are only a few dollars more than a non-baffled tank. When Fiat parts vendors work together, everyone wins!

maybe to keep the fuel from sloshing around :?

Tank baffles also limit the transfer of fuel weight on turns which improves stability. They cut down fuel slosh noise if the tank is under or behind the seat.

Also, will help keep the fuel gauge from bouncing around since the baffled area will keep the fuel from slushing around causing constant fluctuations of the float. That's one thing I hate about my current tank (non-baffled). I had bought a used OEM "good" tank from a fellow member only to find it was leaking into the trunk after about 50 miles and was forced to by a new tank from the guys @ AR. Good tank for fit and finish just wished it would have been one of these! Geesh, you guys couldn't have bought this out a year ago  Looks good and will definitely be buying one for a future project I'm sure. Thanks again guys for furthering the development of our beloved platform!

Well... I hate to buy another tank as i have the non-baffled version from AR. I have to keep my tank above a half a tank or it cuts out around the corners. :(

I may take it out and attempt to make some baffles myself.

the main purpose of baffles is to trap fuel near the pick-up point so the car doesnt starve for fuel in a high G situation. I am currently running a non baffled tank and never had it lean out. I can't say i've given it much of a test, like a long corner with a near empty tank. The closest I came was a freeway to freeway merge with a long 45 mph loop i took at 75. The tank was over half full and had no issues. I also don't get much motion in the gauge either.

Just received mine yesterday! Looks GREAT and can't wait to get it in my car!

It will be nice to finally stop the leaking original tank!
Couldn't pass up the great price!
