Almost done front suspension/steering

Post by rjkoop »

I'm almost done my front suspension and steering components. Here's a few pictures. It would be great if you could take a look and let me know if you see anything wrong/backwards/upside down. The main thing I was concerned about was that the tie rod nut comes in contact with the control arm nut. I haven't yet tightened down the control arms nuts or the tie rod end adjustment nuts so hopefully that's all it is.

Thanks. I was amazed that I still had all the bolts, nut, washers and everything was fairly obvious where to go. Have 2 bolts and washers left but I think they are to hold the caliper bracket on. Haven't attached that yet. Hoping to lower the car off the jack stands tomorrow...

Rotate that clamp around, so it doesn't interfere with the steering.

You might want to give the bell housing and clutch inspection plate some attention since in one pic the bolts on the inspection plate appear to have backed of or are possible cross threaded. A loose inspection plate can allow a bit of road dirt to enter the clutch area and can start buzzing quite loudly after a while.

Good eyes! Yep, that is a stripped bolt/mount. All other bolts are fine but that one can be screwed in, hits a bit of resistance and then slips again. I tried some thread lock but obviously it's not good enough. I will fix that properly in the future.

Anyone know the upper and lower control arm nut size(s)? I need to torque the nuts and was hoping to get a socket on the way home.

Perfect! Same size as my Honda Pilot wheel nuts. And I've already got that socket.
