I've struggled with my current head (see previous posts on helicoiling spark plug holes). Three holes are helicoiled, and this weekend when chasing down an oil leak there was a small amount of oil in the spark plug wells and I could see bubbling from blow by around the spark plugs. At this point I'm throwing in the towel and am going to replace the head.
I removed the old head today and this is what I found:
A couple of questions:
> Should I clean off the staining on the block (and how)?
> Does the head (and frankly the pistons) look normal for an engine with only about 300 miles since a rebuild?
Thanks for any help.
