1985 lower center console
I just got my car back from the body shop and I am now trying to get the interior together. I wanted to have the lower console recovered but the upholstery shops in my area are not willing to do it. So I looked for a cover from our vendors (AR, vicks, IAP) no such luck, though it has been mentioned that the 79-82 would fit with "minor" modification. What is the "minor" modification needed? Would a complete new console 79-82 fit with "minor" modification?

Re: 1985 lower center console
I saw that one but I am concerned about the paint wearing off as my interior is tan. I'm keeping that one as an option though. The north carolina heat and sun is not kind to such things.

Check out spider point... I don't know what your budget is but they have all the interior pieces for the '83-'85 Spiders.

Re: 1985 lower center console
Great site I'm going to have to save it in my favorites, same problem as ebay though (black color, and maybe the picture is wrong but how would the upper center console attach?) I did see a few other pieces I will be needing later (maybe earlier as the exchange rate is in my favor right now )
Thanks
Thanks

I sell a fiberglass console for the 85, paint it to match or leave it black

Re: 1985 lower center console
Looking at the photos, the only difference I see between the earlier and later consoles would be the section where the wood piece fits beneath the shift lever. It appears to be an easy modification to convert a late model console to an earlier model console. I'm not so sure it would work the other way around. It all depends upon how the upper and lower consoles meet.
Here's how a black console looks with the tan interior compared to an all tan interior. The second photo has an upholstered console. I love the softer touch of the upholstered consoles and they look much more expensive in the car.
Is this the same stitching that they're refusing to do at the upholstery shops? If so, I don't understand why they won't do it.
