Mechanic in Peterborough Ontario

Post by Tango »

I'm in the process of moving to beautiful Peterborough Ontario. Not sure yet if my 81 will be making the move or adopted out to a friend of a friend. Depends on garage space in the new, hopefully smaller, house. She Who Must Be Obeyed has first dibs on indoor parking, as it should be.

Does anyone live in the Ptbo area and know of a good reliable mechanic who understands 70s technology? I have a good one in Brantford nearby, and will miss the backup for things that I can't or haven't the time to do myself.

TAKE THE SPIDER! Driving along some of the back rounds will be fun, even if Highway 7 isn't. Don't give up the car! Even if you don't have space at the new house, I'm sure you can rent someone's unused car park, barn, or whatever for next to nothing over the winter.

You probably already know, but there's an Ontario Fiat Club. Your best bet might be to ask around there. I don't suspect that there can me more than one person from Peterborough on these boards. You'll double the number!! ;)

Update: check the Zeemaps location on this map. A bunch of forum members have listed themselves. Looks like Spiderjunkie and Dan are both close to Peterborough.

Cheers,

invest in the best car cover and take the spider..... mine sits under a metal carport, with a nice fitted cover for long durations, and a interior cover for overnights when i'm driving it a lot. I just keep the top stowed and tonneau fitted, uncover and go

Thanks. I was kind of out of touch last year and didn't know about the Ontario Fiat Club. I just joined. I hope to keep it. Another member just gave me a lead on a local mechanic. Well, fairly local.

Bring the Spider :D , I live in Fenelon Falls and work in Peterborough. When the weather improves I drive mine back and forth to work. I've always done my own mechanical work so if you need and help fell free to ask.

Such a nice area for driving (well, 25 years ago it was...). I spent so many weekends ripping around those backroads when I wasn't canoeing on Rice Lake. :D

Thanks, all. With a sunny day and Spring perhaps coming I feel more inclined. So many houses we look at have just a single garage. SpiderJunkie, thanks. That is something to keep in mind. Fenelon Falls, that is a fair drive -- but a nice one. I love the area. For the first time in my career, I picked the town first, then the job. Very pleased with that choice.
