Then I decided to go a step further with a crossflow rad and a 12"fan. So far, I´m not impressed with result. I think that since the crossflow rad is thicker it has less space to let escape the hot air behind the fan. I´m thinking about going back to the original rad with a 14" fan.
About Fender vents, do you happen to have any pics of your setup?
Thanks for all your help and ideas guys
Believe it or not I cooled my first v6 transplant with the stock rad and fan and it works well.. I'm using a 16" fan and a 21" x 19" cross flow radiator. Definitely cools better than the stock setup. I think your fan is too small.. What size is your cross flow radiator?

Cheers!

this really should be a separate thread, but the stock fan pulls lots of air

Not saying that these are what I'm going to try and imitate, but they will give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
These are on a Fiat Dino Coupe.

The crossflow rad is so thick that a 14" or even 16'' fan won´t fit.

I think I will go back to the original rad and try the 14"fan, if that doesn´t work I will try the stock again.
Sorry Mark, you're right, it should be another thread. I´m just to lazy to start one. :?

Here's my 16" fan on my radiator.. I'd try the stock fan but it's looking like you don't have room.

I just read an article about fans and the author claims that curved blade fans pull less air than a straight blade, but they are quieter

I was just on a Spal dealer website and they said the same thing. I've also heard it from several other sources . I tell ya though my fan is NOT quiet.. The blades maybe but the motor no. I wish I had a straight blade fan but they are more money. Maybe down the road.

Cheers!

I've found the straight blade fans are thinner also, a good thing with the thicker aluminum radiators

Can anyone recommend a good straight blade fan? I'd like to get a larger fan, my new curved blade fan doesn't pull nearly as much air as my stock one did.

There's Spal and Flex a lite.. If I had the cash I'd go with the Spal.. Right now I have a Chinese $30 fan rated at 3400 cfm . when I can afford it I'll be buying a Spal.

The quality of Spal is really good. Flex a lite does offer a fan setup with a temp controlled module that varies fan speed depending on water temp.

My experience with flex-a-lite is not good. I had a couple of motors fail on their fans. And the temp. control is just poorly design. I can attest to the quality of Spal.. That's what I'm running for a temp. Control now.

SPAL fans are also thinner then the other brand their low profile are 2''1/8 are medium profile are 2'' 1/2.
Their 14'' medium profile pulls 1310 CFM and 16'' medium profile pulls 1604 CFM. That´s pretty good.
They also have 13'' and 15'' available which are unusual dimension.

Just a quick note here.. I pulled the last of the header wrap off of the drivers side header on my v6spider only to discover that one of the bends in the header super heated and cracked about 1" long.. I suppose I should have snap a photo. But I welded it up and fixed it.. Proof right there that the stuff is no good..

I ran header wrap on a tow vehicle and when towing in the rain I when through some water. When the water hit the over heated wrapped header it just blew a big part of the header off the truck. I have never used header wrap sence.
