How about "Extreme Spider Makeover" where the suppliers of Spider parts take entries and once a month or say 4 times a year pick the name of a poor deserving Fiat in need of a makeover and do it for free.

Sounds like contract negotiation positioning...

"Top Gear is estimated to earn the corporation about £300 million annually."
"The trio are due to host four live Top Gear shows in Norway on March 27 and 28. Their BBC contracts are due to expire three days later..."

One has to love Captain Slow. In case you haven't clicked to watch the vid from the London Evening Standard, an interviewer knocks on May's front door to ask a couple of questions.

Interviewer:
Do you support Jeremy?

May:
In many ways, no. I've said many times before, the man is a knob; but I quite like him. <grins>
It's all getting a bit ridiculous.

Interviewer:
What do you understand about what actually happened?

May:
Not very much: I was blind drunk.
Uh. No further comment, sorry.
<closes door>

I love him because he's always so sensible. :) He totally evades the question by being self-deprecating. While I'm quite sure he wasn't drunk, I imagine May to be a quiet drinker, not a loud and brash one. Jeremy, on the other hand, I imagine to be even more obnoxious than when he's sober...

There's something so pleasant about May: He doesn't brush away the obvious truth -- Clarkson clearly can be an outrageous knob (like when he nearly killed May with a crane when they were building the bridge over the river Kwai) but May also demonstrates his clear loyalty to a friend, clearly underlining how the whole situation is getting blown way out of proportion.

The petition to get Clarkson back on the set is already huge, but BBC probably has to upkeep a principle. It will be interesting to see if they can just say no to the money...

Cheers,

Confirmed.... Although slightly odd wording.... Does "not renewed" mean that it will continue for it's final month....?

That article stated that the BBC was looking at ways to broadcast the final shows that are in the can. That's an odd formulation. I would think that the BBC has all sorts of broadcasting equipment that might do the trick.

It doesn't make much sense to refrain from broadcasting the last shows. Clarkson has been canned, and it's not like he made some horribly un-PC comment and therefore would cause irreversible trauma to the viewing public by showing up again on their TV screens. He just gave a guy a fat lip.

Now the question is: what is going to happen to Hammond and May? Will they try to do the show?

I would say the show is done.

From "Variety"

http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/top-gea ... 201459621/

Speaking to reporters, May said that Clarkson’s departure was a “tragedy.” May suggested that he himself would not remain with “Top Gear” either, but would like to work with Clarkson again.

Asked whether he would stay on the show without Clarkson, May said: “The three of us as a package… It works for very complicated reasons that a lot of people don’t fully understand, so that will require a lot of careful thought.” Asked who he would like to work with, he said: “I quite like working with Jeremy.”

Judging from his latest tweet, it is far from certain that Hammond will follow the other two, referring to an “end of an era.” Hammond wrote: “Gutted at such a sad end to an era. We’re all three of us idiots in our different ways but it’s been an incredible ride together.”

From what I've read, they are still trying to figure out what to do with the episodes they already filmed (just not the in studio stuff). We *might* still get Clarkson driving a 124 Spider.
