header wraping and fan Pb

I´m about to wrap my 4 2 1 header (this summer) to lower the engine bay temperature. Remember this is not to improve the performance.
What are your thought about that?
Will it damage the head in any way?

I ceramic coated my headers and then used Mark's steel coolant reservoir. I did wrap the hoses and wires along the firewall near the exhaust . I was told by a car guy here that wrapping headers is not the best thing. They can trap moisture and rust out the header. I thought I read something like that here on the forum as well.
probably best to leave them alone in my opinion. Any chance/ way of increasing air flow under the hood?

Thanks for your input.
I´m not really concerned about the moisture part, if it´s rusted I can always change it. I just don´t want my head to be damage.

my personal expeiance with header wrap... i wrapped the headers in my race car where moisture and looks doesn't matter... what I found was the heat from the headers crystallized the metal and caused breakage

wrapping the header will shorten its' life dramatically

Appreciate the info there fellas.. I was using it in the 1st version of v6spider but not on version 2.. I was thinking about using it again.. But now I won't bother..

I have used header wrap and it held so much heat that when I took it off the pipes had changed shape. I took it off because when running real hard in the rain I ran through a puddle of water and when the water hit the header the metal just shattered and blew all apart.

Thanks everyone for your opinions .That's really too bad the wrapping won´t work, my engine bay is super hot and my engine itself has a tendency to overheat art idle.
I will try to lower the temperature of the engine bay by other means, for example put a bypass before the heater and into the head . Also a cold air intake might help.

wrap the stuff close to the header rather than the header. If your engine is hot at idle then the fan isn't pulling enough air.

My fan is much bigger than the original, it´s a 12" aftermarket fan I can´t recall the CFM number but it´s way bigger than the original. My rad is a crossflow aluminum.
Also, the temperature rise when I push hard on the engine (5000 to 7000 rpm).

even though the fan is a larger diameter, I doubt it pulls as much air as the stock fan. Those blades were very wide with a steep pitch

Absolutely, I have a larger fan in my spider with the crossflow rad. I bet the stock fan is more efficient.

Before I change my rad for a crossflow, I had the original fan and rad. Then I changed to a 14" fan and immediately the temp went down. Then I decided to go a step further with a crossflow rad and a 12"fan. So far, I´m not impressed with result. I think that since the crossflow rad is thicker it has less space to let escape the hot air behind the fan. I´m thinking about going back to the original rad with a 14" fan.
About Fender vents, do you happen to have any pics of your setup?
