temperature sender in valley of engine removal
Need to replace sensor/sender (in valley of engine, closest to firewall). I tried with sprocket wrench, but it does not move. In the interim, I was thinking that maybe that was initially a good thing. Do I need to drain antifreeze before removing? Also, should brute force be used or is there another trick?

Re: temperature sender in valley of engine removal
maybe a stupid question: but is it directly measuring coolant temp or oil temp?

If coolant, do I need to drain radiator first?

Good idea, the lines that feed the Cabin Heater, and that feed the Throttle Plate Heater (if fitted) are higher than this sensor, and coolant will go all over the head when you pull it. Quite a mess! Ask me how I know.
