Hello all.
Having sold my 1977 RHD converted spider and bitterly regretting it, I now find myself in possession of an '81 CS0 injected spider. This one is LHD and I'm in the process of converting it to RHD.
My previous car appeared to have used the original LHD pedalbox moved over with the brake pedal reshaped to suit. I understand that the RHD coupé pedalbox is the one to use, as it clears the steering column correctly, but I haven't been able to locate one yet. Does anyone have another solution to this problem?
Also, am I looking for a complete pedalbox, or can I get away with just a brake pedal?
Many thanks
Mark

I'd reach out to the Aussie's too... there's quite a few conversions down there.

Re: RHD Conversion
you can use the original pedal box, however you may have to shim one side as the are ever so slightly offset.
All I can say is use you driving position as the centre point, I have seen some cars converted that mirrored the LHD and the steering wheel ends up being at an off angle.
If you use you seating position to centre the steering wheel and then line that up with the booster, you may even use templates as you only want to drill once, unlike the multiple times it has been done on my car prior to my ownership.
Another tip when you need to change over the hump in the dash, cut the LHD side square and then cut the same size on the RHD and swap the pieces, then cover the whole length, again unlike on my car that cut the hump out of the RHD and left the hump in the left had drive to be filled with foam that never looks good.
There is also the t124 forum http://www.turbo124.com/forum/ which has a lot of Aussies with RHD spiders.
There is a mob in the UK called DTR that has a lot of experiences with conversion, it may be wise having a chap to them, they could save you a lot of headache

Re: RHD Conversion
Thanks for the replies chaps.
I have today been offering up my existing LHD pedalbox into the other footwell. Is it possible that the later cars, (mines an '81) had a subtly different shaped brake pedal? It seems to differ slightly from the pedal shown in this post by Sambo42 and may clear the column unmodified.
This is mine before moving
Brake pedal seems to start to bend from higher up. Maybe they used the same pedal for LHD & RHD applications towards the end?
I'll know if it clears the column one I've fitted the steering box.

Re: RHD Conversion
Howdy from down under Mark - I'm still in the process of mine so will let you know how it goes! I can tell you that you can play around with the steering box geometry slightly if you need to by packing some heavy duty washers in between the body and the steering box bolts (asymmetrically). If you need to you can also physically cut and reweld the pedal higher up which is my next point of adjustment. There is also the potential to make up a small bracket/spacer between the mount for the steering column and the bar which holds that dashboard - that way you can slightly slide the column laterally if you need to. I'll keep you posted though - have yet to test the driving position with mine....markw wrote:Thanks for the replies chaps.
