Getting the car sorted as the weather is top down at the moment.
Trying to start it after several hours on the charger. Car turns over but does not catch.
Tried jump starting down the driveway, still no go. Now when I turned the ignition on the dash lights (oil etc. ) did not come on and no turning over. Tightened up the battery connections and we now have lights and starter works.
Pulled the cold start fuel line, ignition on and pushed the AFM flap...no fuel, tried cranking and still no fuel coming out.
Weird thing is I drove the car around the block about a month ago and ran great.
How does one check the fuel relay. I have the fuse tray down. Voltage to the relay out of the relay when ignition on or cranking?
I'm hoping my fuel pump is ok. I'll direct wire that in a few minutes from the Passat.
Thanks eh..

Re: first drive of the season...no love
Thanks for the reply. I crawled up under the dash...hate that part of the car, and had a look. I searched a previous thred and it mentioned green and black wires to an inline fuse. No find.
Anyway I had a cold bottle of installation fluid and went back down the driveway and tried to start the car..... tried to catch first attempt and second off we went. Drove around the block and all seems fine...touch wood.
Now going to vacuum the mouse poops out and have a look if they had a nest in the car despite the traps in the garage this winter.
Love these cars...so simple to work on except anything to do that requires crawling under the driver side dash

Re: first drive of the season...no love
Chris,
If it happens again, fyi - I had a similar situation that turned out to be a bad connection at the large connector on the back of the ECU.
I was able to crank the engine over with the starter, but I wasn't getting any fuel (injectors were not firing). I knew the fuel pump was running because I have a toggle switch hard-wired to the pump so I heard it running just fine.
With the ignition key "off", I unplugged the ECU and re-plugged it back in and -- like magic--- she took off and ran.
Not saying this was your problem, but you might keep it in mind if this happens to you again.

Dave, you might be onto something. When I dropped the fuse tray I freed the dual relay and pushed the wires in and did the same to the ecu. The car started after that....

Re: first drive of the season...no love
Great to hear you've got it running, Chris. I've had mine out for a couple of long drives and it appears that the problems I had last fall are over. Are you thinking about coming down for the North Van show this year?
