My first car was an 850 spider, a chick car by all accounts according to the car magazines of the time. It was light weight, easy to steer and didn't have enough power to get you into trouble. This made it a car for girls.....and, of course, no guy would want to be driving a car labeled a chick car. About this time comes women's lib and the all male car world got dented by the likes of Shirley Muldowney, Janet Guthrie, and even our own beloved Denise Burchette. Can't say i've ever heard anyone call a 124 a chick car. Maybe I don't hang out with the muscle car set enough.

I loved that it was in England, and the giggle I'll kind of put down to Brit humour [sic]!

My key take away from the film is that yes, wipers can run that fast on a spider... really...

Took my 78' Spider out with top down for first time since October. I'm 63 and when I stopped at a coffee kiosk/pull through and late teens barrista hung out the window all googly eyes asking about the car. She finished with a "wish I could ride in it". I just paid and left wondering how to explain that one to my wife had I let her have a ride. Next day driving by the high school close to my house, 2 young ladies waved and they yelled "nice ride".
So I ask you. Chick magnet or not? Can't be the old fart driving so must be the car. Come on, someone disagree with and make me feel good.

Well, we could do an experiment where we do the same routes in our daily drivers and see if we get the same response..... Hahahahah!
