Pre-Purchase Inspection, Venice Italy

Post by baltobernie »

Do any of you have a gearhead friend in northeast Italy? Need not be an expert appraiser, but someone who can spot prior accident damage, re-spray, etc.

I'll pay for gas, etc. PM me.

€14,500 without the VAT. About $20k in my driveway when all's said and done. Looks like an outstanding example of the model, with rare factory A/C, but it's just too much money for me. Guy's had it since November, but won't budge. USA legal under the 25-year rule.

Why don't one of you buy it and bring it to FFO? I'll only be a little

Funny how cultural inaccessibility breeds desire. We like our cars because they are Italian and not like stuff made in North America at the time.

At the Turbodreams site, above, they have Camaros, Corvettes, a Mercury Grand Marquis, a Chevy van, even a Caprice with a police package. I guess Italians want them because they're unusual in their market.

I was born in Venice and spent a lot of time there as a boy in the summers once my family had moved to Canada. At the Lido, the beach area where there are roads and cars, I remember seeing a black Trans Am with a huge flaming chicken on the hood parked outside the very expensive Excelsior hotel and drooling over the 5.0L Turbo marking on the hood bulge. The car was so damned big, and squat, and muscle. It was just so different than all the micro-hatchbacks with sub 1.6 litre engines put-putting around, especially since people rarely took cars near a freeway as that required a ferry ride to the mainland. There were probably as many mopeds as cars around. :) Gas was so expensive in Italy at the time I can't even imagine how much it cost to fill the tank of the Trans Am. :)
