Odd coolant leak

Post by garion »

I all. Now that I've redone my ignition, and started to see if I can finally get my choke/idle to be consistent (see my 'choke tuning' thead, I ran into this:

It looks like it leaking coolant from the alternator bracket.. Does that stud go into the water jacket (2.0)? It looks like its a very slow leak, I had been running about 10 minutes or so, and thats all that leaked. No other leaks that I can see. I've verified that its not coming from the intake above.

If I recall yes, it does, as do the engine mount stud holes and (on some 132 blocks) four bolt holes for a power steering compressor.

Most likely leaking from the intake manifold gasket above it.

Its not leaking from the intake. Thats the first thing I checked. I ran a paper towel over the intake, top and bottom, and only got some dirt, no moisture.

I'll have tighten that stud and see what happens. It'll be a couple weeks before I can get to it.

Minor update. The leak looks like its possible coming from the front of the engine, and getting blown back onto that location.

Which stud/bolts go into the water jacket on the front? The water pump itself looks like its sealed well enough.. It looks like it might be one of the bolts for the tensioner spring.. Looks like I'll have to take off the timing belt to get a better look.
