Hey everyone!
Installing DFEV carb on '79...
There is an electric pump in the trunk with no check valve nearby. PO had a check valve installed on vent line near the (stock) carb.
1. Should I install a check valve near electric pump to keep fuel from running back when engine is off?
2. Do I need a check valve on the return line (relocating to 3 way filter)? If so, does arrow point to filter or to tank?
Many thanks!

You should not need a check valve at all.

Check valves - the OEM ones - were recommended for removal in a service letter, because they leaked. Your carburetor has a check valve in the float bowl and though fuel can draw back past it your electric pump will overcome any lack of fuel very quickly. I'm not a big fan of electric pumps retro-fitted to cars that originally had mechanical (your 79 had a mech pump) and simply caution people to make sure they are installed and wired in a quality manner.

PO had installed an electric pump next to the battery and installed a blanking plate. Pity, I would have kept the mechanical pump given a choice. Finished all under the hood tonight, radiator, hoses, linkage, fuel and vent lines, etc except the charcoal canister and the air/oil vent to the air cleaner. That will be next week'ends project.
