Desired year?
Re: Desired year?
I see there is no desired year, just the year you have. I asked the question because someone told me the 74 was rare. Doesn't matter to me, I'll have mine until one of us dies. Just got it back from the shop and it runs GREAT!

I see that the most desired year is the one YOU own. I asked the question because someone told me the 74 was rare. Doesn't matter to me, I'm keeping mine till one of us dies. Happy driving. Keep the rubber side down.

. You're right of course - a 74 is somewhat rare, and yours is a little special with the MY overriders.
I think all our spiders are special and desireable to each of us! They each have quirks and features that make them special. My solution - own more than one

Since owning more than one isn't practical for me, i just customized mine with what i like from several models. 2LFI chassis and motor, early tranny and rear end, 70 hood and trunk lid. 71 stock springs, early style bumpers, 71 instrument cluster and lots of custom goodies. My solution - own more than one

jerry, nice engine bay. question: the cam tower cover on drivers side. what did u use to plug the port when the smog pipe was removed? mine has a open gap into the cam box. so until i can fix that i am using 2 covers with oil fill caps.( kinda funny looking)
Re: Desired year?
I'm sorry I wish I could tell you, I had the motor done by Import Doctors San Ramon Ca. ( Not Recommended). I'll get back with a better answer to you. thanks for your complement.riverdadd wrote:jerry, nice engine bay. question: the cam tower cover on drivers side. what did u use to plug the port when the smog pipe was removed? mine has a open gap into the cam box. so until i can fix that i am using 2 covers with oil fill caps.( kinda funny looking)

The is a hole for the EGR tubing, it simply goes through, it is not supposed to be connected to the cambox. If yours was, there was something wrong with it. Just get another one, used ones are easy to find.

Re: Desired year?
Those guys still around? They worked on one of my cars...once. An 81 Alfa Spider I had while living nearby for a year. I don't recall the sequence of events but I remember driving home and getting a piece of hose to reconnect something in the FI system they "lost" and were going to charge me to replace. On the way out of there I stopped to help a guy with a Milano on the side of the road who was there just ahead of me, his new dual relay had failed about 2 miles from their shop.JerryAebi wrote:I'm sorry I wish I could tell you, I had the motor done by Import Doctors San Ramon Ca. Speaking of Alfas, get on ebay (or wherever) and buy the alternator heat shield they used on Alfas, it will help protect your VR and wires given the position of the alternator on that car. FIATs and Alfas used the same alternators more or less, the cover goes over the back.
