Thanks Craig.
I/we would love to attend, however the timing at the moment is not the greatest. July is in the middle of the building season and I'm usually quite busy supplying any custom cut timbers required.
The other factor at the moment is the Canadian dollar is in the tank at the moment compared to the US dollar. Currently I need over $500.00 CDN to get $400.00 USD.
After purchasing a larger shop and property for the sawmill last year, I'm in the freedom 70 camp. FFO is definitely on the list though. If it was in Canada, just think of the benefit with the exchange rate
I'll just have to look at the photos for now....

I'm in Jay! Booked at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel (Monroeville Convention center) for 4 nights, July 14-19th. I booked it with 2 Queen beds at $149.00 per night with option to cancel at no penalty before midnight the day before. Mm It's unlikely that i can convince my g/f to accompany me through 9+ hours of her hair blowing around in a convertible. I'll try one more time. If that's the case i have the option of splitting the room costs with another forum member if he's travelling solo. I will try to time the drive so that i don't subject my fiat to constant rain. Breaking it down to a two day drive, may be an option, because let's face it, 8 or 9 hours of straight driving topless is very tiring plus we need to add extra time for gas breaks, lunch, decompression, etc. In any case i'm willing to bend in order to accompany other cars.
From the information i gathered with the hotel operator, the room availability is very limited and they can disappear instantly. At the time of conversation there were 7 rooms still available, (1 King Bed corner room) @ 139.00/night and 9 rooms (2 Queen Bed, smaller room) @ 149 per night. Fiat Club America reserved some less expensive rooms @ 119.00/night but in a case you cannot make it, you cannot cancel the reservation and you'd lose the $$$ for all four nights. It was unclear to me how many of these rooms are available.

IN ANY CASE EVERYONE,DON'T WAIT AROUND TOO LONG TO RESERVE, THE WHOLE AREA IS VERY LIKELY TO BE A SELL-OUT.

Jay i assume that you are travelling with family?
I would love to meet up with you at the top of Lake Ontario (Brockville area) and convoy from there if we have similar thoughts going through our heads..
Spiderdan? Phaetn? And of course anybody else from Quebec/Ontario any input on the drive down?

Update: Phaetn has agreed to split the room (for a couple of nights) for the time being because his paticipation to this trip is conditional. Awesome! Let's get it on! :D

Ok, I'm going to make this happen. Spoke to 4uall and AriK today and we're looking at a Fiat Spider caravan and they're kind enough to help me with a place to sleep. :) It depends on my wife's health, but I REALLY want this to happen. A very good buddy of mine also happens to live in Pittsburgh so I hope to see him and may stay a night or two at his place.

So how/where do I sign up? I gather the first step is to join FCA. Then what? Is there a sign up for the FFO somewhere or is that going to come later? I went the Cortile section of PVGP but it says not to register there if part of FFO.

Jeez -- this is going to be a fun haul. My wife, asking about the reliability of the car, asked, "What, do you think you're in Top Gear or something?" I think she saw one two many roadside repairs by Clarkson et al in either their Vietnam or, more latterly, their Patagonia specials. She didn't see all the support vehicles. :)

Thanks and cheers,
phaetn

Just as an FYI I am planning to leave on Tuesday July 14th 2015 as I have a reservation for that night (see above dates)

Dressing up our cars for the run. Nice! Unfortunaltely on arrival aesthetics will need to be re-staged, dust, splattered bugs, snow packed in our wheel wells, etc. after all we are driving down from Canada. More than a California duster can handle.
