Muffler Replacement?

Post by Jzagro »

Hey, I know this topic has been posted several times but I cannot find any straight answers and I am left rather confused.

Can anyone give me a replacement model for the stock muffler? I still have the exhaust system the same and do not plan on replacing it with any bigger piping. Or is there a reason I should replace it with maybe a 2' or 2' 1/4 rather than the original 1 5/8's?

If you could let me know that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is that for your '80? How much do you want for it?

Unless you are doing some major engine and head work the stock system is fine - provided you are using one of the stock 4-2-1 exhaust manifolds (4 pipes from the head into a 2 pipe collector into 1 pipe, vs. 4 into 1). Certainly you can upgrade all day long, but most "upgrades" on otherwise stock or lightly upgraded motors just create noise, not HP.
