Headers and the like.

Post by Hjulen »

Anyone have experience with the headers available from VICKs or IAP? and of course the legendary Python headers that Mark makes....

I am trying to imagine what kind of improvement is would have over the later type 4-2-1 exhaust. Part of me thinks an improved exhaust system would be essential to a well rounded system, but another part believes in cost versus benefit.

A friend bought an IAP 4-2-1. Well made and tuned but good for 90-120HP to my opinion. For over 120HP applications I suggest custom 4-1 header with 66cm long primaries with 42 or 44 mm outside diameter.

i have a set of marks headers. actully on his website, his headers are pictured on my engine before it was completed. i am very happy with them, but cant really tell u exactly how much of a difference they made. because i went from a bone stock 1438. yanked it out and dropped in a fully built 2 liter with his headers and many other mods. there was some one on this site who had a comparion of before and after. he seemed to be very happy.then mark came out with a new set that would work better on smaller motors.

What is your source of the numbers...testing or calculation?

Neither testing, nor calculation... Just direct copy of the 1973-4 124 Rally Abarth specs. Alquatti of Cremona made that stuff in the 80s as well commercially, and PBS suggests the same in their current pages. Why do you ask?

I'm building my own header, for a turbo.
