Installing Lightened Flywheel

Post by RRoller123 »

Maybe a dumb question, but I haven't done this before: Can the flywheel and clutch be changed from underneath, while the car is up on the lift? Or do you have to pull the engine/trans out from the front to do it? I will be having my lightened flywheel installed, and will put a new clutch in while it is apart.

one or the other needs to be pulled. If you are on a lift, the tranny would be the easiest.

definitely pull the tranny from underneath, that's the quickest, easiest way to replace the flywheel. It's a good time to inspect the rear main seal for leakage too

Thanks Mark, I am going to have my local garage do this. Really looking forward to the improvements! Should probably just go ahead and change the rear seal, is this an easy replacement when it is all opened up?

Don't forget the pilot bearing.
