An insurance investigator highly recommended the ones starting at over $20 and even uses them on his motorcycles. Below $20 down to $15 he recommended the MD versions with 640X480 resolution.

Personally I have won more times than I have lost going with the reasonable bargain models.

First of all, 4uall: CONGRATS on the GoPro. I seriously looked at one at FutureShop. Not only does it fit on Fiats but also ski helmets, sailboats, etc. :) Let me know if you get the vacation time for the FFO in Pittsburgh. If you do, I would really like to drive down together, taking it slow and easy.

Csaba: that unit at $25 looks very, very similar to mine that I bought for CA$100. Externally it is only slightly different, but the control interface looks the same, and records at 1080p. I suspect it shares a lot of components. Mine works decently enough. For $25 I'd give it a shot. In fact, I think I might buy a couple just so I can have three cameras all filming at once... Of more concern is the Rakuten.com site that, under "Customers Who Viewed This Also Viewed", also has a sex toy that would get you put in jail in Japan for the prosthetic female bits. Dashcams, radios, and YIKES!

I think I will use a prepaid card to buy it though, one that I use for small online purchases. Rakuten seems dubious in its practices (e.g. $50 rebate for getting a MasterCard, so the order for two cameras would be $0. Or free shipping if you sign up with a service that sends you a rebate cheque.) I don't want to give them a credit card number that has a high limit on it or give them too much personal info by signing up for a card.

I'll let you know if I get them how they work out.

I have not done business with BestBuys web only shopping service since they renamed it however they were as Buy.com part of the employee rewards and recognition program subscribed to by major corporations. The offensive device may be a hack from a vendors web site but you never know when they globalize these things whats going to pop-up as even Amazon now sells those types of items also.

Here is a cheaper Amazon.com alternative (hopefully just a dash cam this time):
