Re: Can we talk 124 Coupe?
Would it be possible to coax one of you BC coupe owners that is running dial IDF 40s to post some detail images of the throttle linkage?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks special, but I've seen that before.
I need to see how things are routed on a running installation.

Re: Can we talk 124 Coupe?
Do you mean the factory IDF linkage, or what people have come up with on their own?
If it was me I'd install a pedal from the 75-on Spider and the 78-80 setup with a throttle cable and bellcrank linkage on the intake camtower.
If you email me I can send you an exploded view of the factory linkage.

Re: Can we talk 124 Coupe?
Hi Csaba,
Yes I'd like a look at ANY detail photos of ANY dual IDF 40 install in a coupe.
I have the drawings from a Haynes manual showing the linkage. And the Coupes stock single carb linkage is kinda similar to the dual carb linkage. But the brackets seem to have different locations from one to the other.
If I can't easily use the stock style linkage with some minor mods, then I'd probably go the route of making use of the cable system like in my 75 Spider. That was an easy to adapt setup and has proven very reliable in the last year.
Thanks again

Yes I saw that report on Petrolicious.
Makes me jealous
Unfortunately that carb image shows only the top.
Can't wait till mine is all purdy like that one.

Well Roy first tell me what manifold will you be mounting??If I can't easily use the stock style linkage with some minor mods
The stock “waffle manifold”? or the swept back “Alquati type”??
I have 3 coupes all with IDFs & with 3 different linkage set ups.
Of which non are from the Spider with the throttle cable and bellcrank linkage on the intake camtower

Re: Can we talk 124 Coupe?
Hi ital,
The manifold I may be using is from a company called pierce manifolds.
I can't say that it will match up with either of the three you own. I fully expect that i will be making a custom linkage.
Could I ask you to post a shot of the linkage from your three Coupes?
Thanks.

Hey Ital, (Rob)
I saved the images you provided. Thanks Very MUCH!
It does in fact gives me something to think about when I do put the dual IDF's on my Coupe.
Which I think it really deserves.
Although I did coax 105 MPH out of this little monster yesterday. Even with the single two barrel.
By the way, on your yellow car, you seem to have a second cable connected from front to rear on the inside of the carbs between the carbs and the cab towers. What's that for?
I finally got the hood cleaned up that Mark was kind enough to supply with this Coupe to replace the stock hood that actually had holes rotted thru it. I am still looking for a glove box with brackets and hinges.
Having a lot of fun driving this Coupe, and in the last several outings I have had several people take note of the car and one enthusiastic Volkswagon GTI driver in front of me at a stop signal was frantically waving, smiling and giving me a thumbs up as I returned to work from lunch one day.
Thanks again for all your help.
I hope some day that my Coupe will look half as good as that yellow one you have.

Re: Can we talk 124 Coupe?
It's the cable that operates the chokes. That is the set up in my 1968 AC with the origional 13/15 carbsBy the way, on your yellow car, you seem to have a second cable connected from front to rear on the inside of the carbs between the carbs and the cab towers. What's that for?
My yellow BC with the1608 has no chokes ( mounted 44 IDFs)
Oh I can relate to this! Been smiling & having fun with my yellow coupe since 1983. After I modified the 1608 the early eighties was the best time. I took on all the modified street Datsun 510s, Vw siroccos, BMW1600/2002, and even 240Zs did not scare me. The best was embarrassing the Alfa GTV guys. In fact, I was eating up a lot of bigger displacement cars, even modified ones.Having a lot of fun driving this Coupe, and in the last several outings I have had several people take note of the car and one enthusiastic Volkswagon GTI driver in front of me at a stop signal was frantically waving, smiling and giving me a thumbs up as I returned to work from lunch one day.
A very interesting read for you

Re: Can we talk 124 Coupe?
Honestly, I thought it must have been for chokes.
I just didn't know that any of the IDF's had them.
I have been to your web site and read that article.
Let us know when your done with the next article if it's related.
Thanks
