I've always found the picture of the man with the 82 Turbo Spider interesting, in that I've always thought the Turbo Spider was a modification made with the cars in the USA. In other words, it didn't get the equipment under the hood, the boost gauge, the stickers, until it reached America. I've wondered based on this if I've always understood it incorrectly - that (in the true fashion of using a studio to build bodies) the cars were earmarked as Turbos and fitted as such cosmetically, and shipped here ready for the Turbo parts...

Regrettably they never had Veglia make the turbo gauge, but it was always an albatross in the interior.

Likely the shipped a Turbo back to Torino. I think earmarking cars would be logistically difficult.

Revision: Would [have been] logistically difficult [for FIAT in the 1980's]. For anyone else this wouldn't have been a big issue.
