In which case the light would never come on as something important would have fallen off by then.... ;)

Could always have a multiphase set up.... Three LEDs squeezed into the existing light binnacle. Red when in the red, Amber at 7500 and green when above 1000 to let you know it's still alive....

How about a passenger ejection seat armed light? You can switch it on when on a dubious date? :roll:
