FYI,
Chromed surfaces hold heat in a big way. It's usually desireable to allow the heat to dissipate away from our engines and their attached parts.

Ok good advice…So stock standard is better ?

I think the stock starters are pretty good units. If mine starts acting up my first thought would be to have it repaired at a local auto electrical shop that services alternators and starters.

I got Mark's gear reduction starter (not chromed) and love it. It's much smaller and it starts the car easily. The stock starter is big, heavy, and tough to get in and out of the car.

I bought a gear reduction starter motor from Mark also. Cranks engine over faster and lost 10 lbs off my car.

Also, the gear reduction starter is much easier to install.

A chromed starter! What a stupid waste of money. Put an ABARTH sticker on it, charge 2x as much, I guess someone will buy it.

Get a gear reduction starter - you can hardly see it, it works great, and draws less current. Otherwise get a stock unit, they're heavy and black, but if you put an ABARTH sticker on it it will be worth 2x.

I replaced the stock starter on my '79 with a reduction gear starter from AR - works great and as others have said, less weight and easier to install. (and should be easier to remove if it fails in the future)
