Wanted door window help

Post by hyghlndr »

I can't seem to get my windows to go up and down properly. One had all the internal parts removed while the other seems messed up. Any good schematics? More importantly is there anyone near northern Delaware that I can gladly pay to set up the door internals.

The cable in my door has come of the pullies.
The schematics helps me to understand how the cable should run.
But any tips on how to go about getting the cable back in place?
The number of loops on the mechanism is ok but it's a bit "tangled".
Mine's a power window but I don't think the cable mechanism is any different.

Does the one with parts not move at all, does it bind on one side, does the handle crank?

Having just fought this battle, these are some helpful hints:
If the windings on the regulator are gooned up and don't lay flat, fix this first. You will need slack in the cable to fix this. Loosen the 2 bolts on the underside of the door (Don't fully remove the bolts. The 2 low pulleys are connected to a common fixture. Loosen so to work the cable free from these pulleys). Then crank the handle back and forth, working the cable into the grooved spool. The other hand(s) need to hold tension to prevent the cable from jumping back out.
You may need to remove the rear window track. This allows for some added play and hand room. There is one nut that is accessed from the round hole in the lower aft corner. Remove the nut and washers carefully then pull down on this track which pulls the tab free (shown in photo).
The window may need to be moved by hand to mesh with the regulator and to put the cable back onto the pulleys.

Patience and finesse :) Once the rigging is back in order, crank the handle to ensure proper operation. Replace the aft window track. Tighten the bottom 2 bolts.
