Add exhaust hanger to FI spider
Anyone add an extra exhaust hanger behind the cat to better support the pipe? If so post pictures and hardware source please. Thanks.

Re: Add exhaust hanger to FI spider
An extra hanger is usually added in front of the rear axle. There is room there to hang it from the inner seatbelt bolt nuts.

Great question this is on my list as well.
Any pictures of successful installs?

Thanks. I will try the seatbelt bolt you suggest. My ANSA dual tip exhaust hits the axle occasionally but I think another hanger might prevent this. I do agree that a picture would be helpful. Anyone?

Re: Add exhaust hanger to FI spider
I just took 10 picture by holding the camera under the car and none of them are any good...
Really, if you hang it by the seatbelt bolt it will fall right in front of the center muffler, not many choices, really.
BTW, if this center hanger is not used the warranty is void on an Ansa muffler.

Re: Add exhaust hanger to FI spider
I know this is an old post, but does anyone have a picture of the additional hanger installed? I would like to put this on my winter project list. Thanks!

Re: Add exhaust hanger to FI spider
What I have learned in the meanwhile is that some later Spiders do not have seatbelt anchor points for the rear seat, so one can't use that on those cars.
Just look at the center bump stop over the front center of the diff, if there is a nut welded to the body on either side then you can use that to bolt the hanger to. I believe it's 7/16-20 thread.

I believe that those are the anchor points for the shoulder harness belts that were in later Spiders. Spiders did not have rear seats but they did have "package" shelves. The Pinin models did not have the shelf.vandor wrote:What I have learned in the meanwhile is that some later Spiders do not have seatbelt anchor points for the rear seat, so one can't use that on those cars.

No, these are on the floor, toward the center.
> Spiders did not have rear seats
Up to '82 they do have rear seats, and also seat belt mounting points under the seats.
Yes, the data sticker says '2 in front, 0 in rear', but those are still seats back there.

Those points are for the lap portion of the belts, the shoulder part is anchored behind the package shelf. The Owner'svandor wrote:>I believe that those are the anchor points for the shoulder harness belts

Manual for my '82 states it is a Package Shelf.
