Winter Weather! Put up a picture of your baby going to bed!

Post by lucas83 »

As we know the winter weather is coming :( but we can get through it together if we know that were not the only one putting our covers on for the year. Which covers do you use? How many? Which cover do you think is the best?

I stopped putting a cover on my car when I read that article in Hagerty about mice liking dark places. One of these days I'm going to get one of those covers that you drive on to and sip the whole thing closed. For now I just put it in the garage and open the hood and trunk lid. I drive it all year if the weather is nice so I don't really put it to bed for the winter.

My friend on Cape Cod (SALTY AIR) uses one of those zip up bag storage systems and raves about it. Uses a fan to pressurize the bag so there is no car contact. Small heater inside keeps things dry. Trusts his award winning '47 MG TC to it. So far so good.

Here in Houston we're just getting into the best driving time of the year! I've been having a ball rotating between the Coupe, the spider and the Dallara for my daily commute the past couple of weeks. None of mine have AC, so this is the time of year I really work them out! Now, June through September - that's another story altogether!

Virtual '71 buddy George Ramos intercepted me the first winter I had my Fiat asking here how to prep my car for winter storage, and encouraged me to not put her up on blocks. Smart move. Was surprised how many winter days turned out to be sunny and just pleasant enough to head out for an hour drive. Nothing like a little yellow Italian car on a brisk day to warm the heart.

Mine starts right up, even after sitting for several weeks (no battery charger), so I am also in the camp of "if there is no snow / salt on the roads, I'm going for a little drive". It may be only 4 or 5 times between November and March, but those are wonderful days and I think a lot better for the car (and me) than hiding it away.

Mine gets started and warmed up to operating temperature every Saturday from November to March. If weather permits, and the roads are salt free, I drive it to run weekend errands. Other than that I cover it while it's garaged. I like to tinker with it all winter long, and like the above poster, sometimes I just go out and look at it so mine never really gets put away.

I hear this winter may be just as harsh as the last, so my Saturday drives my be limited again this year.

these is my baby in winter mode. I have my driver window half open so air can still circulate inside. my first cover is my auto glym four layer(great cover!!). i purchased it this year and i abosutly love it, fits the car fairly well and wasn't that expensive(i believe $139.99[Canadian] for small size).

Then my second cover is a Siminioz 2 layer(not the best..,) it costed me about $50 a few years back, didn't fit the car well and i just didnt like it. my garage is kept at 10 degrees celsius all the time as well.

If you don't mind my asking, lucas83, where did you get it? I'm looking for a car cover at the moment...

2 car covers at the same time? Isn't that overkill for indoors?
