I saw this online tonight. It is the Raceland wind deflector and brackets

Re: Wind Deflectors for Sale
I installed this particular unit on the Blue 72 right before the wedding. Spouse was very skeptical, until she rode in the car with it up and down. It now stays up all of the time; she likes the lack of tangled hair at the end of the ride!
Good price, too.

Neil, can you post photos of how the brackets are fixed to the car? I'd have to consider the type of surgery needed before ordering one.njoconnor wrote:I installed this particular unit on the Blue 72 right before the wedding. Re: Wind Deflectors for Sale
The good part is that there is no surgery required. You remove the lower hinge bolt from the convertible top, bolt on the brackets and off you go. Here's what it looks like on my car.

Everyone should have one of these (from the pioneer of using the Raceland Miata windblocker).
Csaba should offer the Raceland R style or V style Miata designs as options as some may like those.

Re: Wind Deflectors for Sale
Sorry for the delay, Arik, but John's pix clearly show the mounting process (thanks, John!). No surgery needed at all. But I'd recommend having a magnetic retriever handy for when you drop either nut, bolt, or washer while in that space!
The deflector I bought from A/R does not have the short articulating bar between the main mounting bar and the deflector; only diff I can see. Like I said, it works very well, and definitely extends WI's Fiat season by at least a month. Unlike some, I've found that my boot still snaps on with only a small wrinkle near the mounting bar. It easily clears the retrofitted shoulder belts I installed as well.Only quibble I have is that it may be a bit tight to carry 2 cased Martin acoustics in the back area, but I do have a trunk.....

Not invasive at all. Looks good. I assume there's no issues when lifting or dropping the convertible top.njoconnor wrote:Sorry for the delay, Arik, but John's pix clearly show the mounting process (thanks, John!). Re: Wind Deflectors for Sale
After looking at some of the other deflector pix, I decided to post mine (driver side):
My deflector mounts directly to the bar connected to the top frame; works fine. I suspect it would ride a little higher with the short bars seen in the other installs.
We've found that raising/lowering the top is easiest with the deflector in the up position. My top clears the deflector by about an inch during the travel arc.
The deflector will discourage granddaughter rides in the rear "seat", which given the lack of car seat anchors is probably just as well. It DOES prevent wet willies from our Golden, though.....

Re: Wind Deflectors for Sale
A '72 should have seatbelt anchors for the rear seat. I know around sometime during the Spider 2000 production they stopped putting them there.
