Had 3 fiats since joining 2008. Back in the late 70's had two 1972 Fiat sport coupes , owned them for three years until rust hit hard.

Re: How Long Have You Had Your FIAT?
I had my 68 spider for 34 years, and always had at least one Fiat spider on the road during that period. I sold All my Fiats, all my parts, a huge hoard, and scrapped my graveyard about four or five years ago.
Turns out I missed them. The 68 was my favorite, followed by a really nice 80 FI and a dual Weber 1600. I also had a really nice turbo that was just superb. I can't go back, So I bought an 82 this spring, and did a full mechanical refurbishment. Right now I am under agreement to buy a 3/4 restored 74 Spider with a 1608 engine for 1000 dollars. It is currently spread out in two different garages...

Re: How Long Have You Had Your FIAT?
My first was a 77 purchased in 93, then a 76, a 78, another 77, two 78s, then the 81 which I have been working on restoring for the last 20 months. I still drive the first 77 almost every day and today I picked up this insane 70 which we will see if I can get running this weekend!
And so begins my lemons career!!

I've had SHELOB since May, 2010, and the '70 since September, 2009.
SHELOB had 54,000 miles when I bought her. she now has 75,000.
The '70 hasn't moved.

Re: How Long Have You Had Your FIAT?
On December 14th it will be 46 YEARS since my dad and mom put me and my sister in the back seat and drove us home from the dealer - right off the showroom floor. Remember as if it were yesterday. I still have it - sadly my dad passed away earlier this year. 1969 124 Spider, Positano Yellow, mostly original paint, never restored, garage kept for life, over 280,000 miles, still driven regularly.

Re: How Long Have You Had Your FIAT?
Gary, sorry to hear about your dad. My dad passed away last December, and my favorite picture is my avatar - 41 years ago my dad bought our '73 124 Coupe new off the showroom floor, and although I don't remember that day, I grew up with that car and have very fond memories of it together with my dad.gary124spider wrote:On December 14th it will be 46 YEARS since my dad and mom put me and my sister in the back seat and drove us home from the dealer - right off the showroom floor. As my signature line states, I've had my current Spider for 18 years, bought off the original owner back in 1996 with only 33k miles, but my Fiat history goes back much further than that.
