Ignition system

Post by Baz »

I have been having problems with the failure of the module mounted with the coil. Engine just stops. Has anyone replaced the old system (2ltr Carb) with one if the new electronic ignitions ? Do they improve ? are they easy to fit ? reliable ? There seems to be more than one system out there.

My car is a 1975 and came stock with a dual point distributor. Because of all the trouble I was having with the stock set up I sprung for the Computronix system that Mark Allison sells. That was one of my best upgrade purchases I have ever made. Setting it up is easy -- and I am a novice. The Computronix unit improved my car's drive-ability and improved my fuel economy.

the ignition module requires a good contact with the heat sink. there is a paste you need to use to make good heat transfer. Not sure what it is called.
The non-point style dizzy is pretty reliable, but still requires a dizzy in good shape. I installed one of Mark's computronix ignitions just about a year ago. I've been very happy with it.
