Re: Finally something to show
i really wanted to use the stock fan with the texas heat radiator that i bought, but since the radiator is thicker, and even though the radiator was designed to mount the stock fan, the fan touched the water pump pulley. So i ordered a slim aftermarket fan. It came in today and i like it. it's definitely a lot thinner than the stocker. I'm going nuts not having my car here to work on, so i'm trying to keep busy with as much stuff as i can....

Re: Finally something to show
yes jim you may, but dont order one yet, if we do change the fan i will use a pusher fan from the front, to give more space as the 1438 radiator panel is different than the others

Re: Finally something to show
that looks very similar to an aftermarket one i bought. in addiiton to moving more air, it is virtually silent. how did you mount the fan to the radiator?

Re: Finally something to show
it came with a mounting kit. there are square rubber sticky pads you put between the radiator and the fan, then you put a long zip tie through the fins. from the back you slide more rubber sticky pads then slide a circular clip that locks onto the zip tie.btoran wrote:that looks very similar to an aftermarket one i bought. in addiiton to moving more air, it is virtually silent. how did you mount the fan to the radiator?

Re: Finally something to show
i got it off ebay for $25 shipped. this one is 14inch. if you do need one, you might need a smaller one since you have a smaller radiator. it's been so long since i looked at a smaller (early) radiator that i can't remember if 14inch would fit or not.fiat218 wrote:Where did you get it at, I may need one too

Re: Finally something to show
i just was out in the garage with my jump pack comparing the stock fan and the aftermarket fan. They both seem to move about the same amount of air, but the aftermarket one is quite a bit quieter. i'm happy with it.

Re: Finally something to show
accelerator linkage and front indicators cleaned up pretty nice (thanks to autoricambi for the quality clear lenses): (this also makes me happy, jim!!! ) Though i'm thinking about replacing the amber bulbs with a chrome amber bulb so you won't be able to see orange until the lights are on.. just not sure if it really makes a difference...

Man! Every time I stare at my tired old linkage atop the cam housing...I either want to circumnavigate it to somewhere else, or at least make it look good! You did the latter and it looks great!juvius wrote:accelerator linkage and front indicators cleaned up pretty nice (thanks to autoricambi for the quality clear lenses): (this also makes me happy, jim!!! ) Though i'm thinking about replacing the amber bulbs with a chrome amber bulb so you won't be able to see orange until the lights are on.. just not sure if it really makes a difference...

Re: Finally something to show
Thanks. It was a little rusty so I soaked it in a tub of muratic acid over night. Came out looking new but I had to paint it because even though the acid removes rust, it causes rust at the same time.
