Glove box is shut closed

Glove box is shut closed and the turn latch will not turn... how do I get it open?

Is the glove box locked and do you have a key? It is a pretty simple latch. A thin flexible piece of plastic may be able to help push the latch open by inserting in the gap and moving from left to right as you try to turn the latch. Is there anything in the glove box pushing on door. push door in to see if it releases something binding the latch.

Now how do I keep it from staying shut.

Rebuild the latch. Don't remember it being that hard. should be a post in the details.
