One for the database.....
I had just replaced the gas tank, fuel and vent lines on My 81 fi 2000. I could hear the fuel pump running with the ignition on and the afm flap moved, but I wasn't getting fuel to the fuel rail. I knew it didn't need priming and couldn't believe the pump coincidentally failed. So I let it sit and a day later it dawned on me....."The wires were swapped on the fuel pump, causing it to run backwards"
When I originally took the pump off I had marked the grime on the body of the fuel pump with a W and a G, but misread it reading the marks via a mirror and poor lighting since the pump was already re-installed when I went to put the wires back. Not sure how I got the two different connectors sizes on the wrong tabs though? Anyway, i hopes this helps someone down the road.
