Help fitting dash cap on ends
My dash cap install in my 84 wasn't easy but with the windshield off and using all the advice here it came out very nice. Thanks! The only issue I could not work out was how to trim the edges. There is no where near enough space now for the original plastic pieces between the dash end and the door jam. Any suggestions?

Wow. I put one on mine with the windshield on and it did not require any trimming. I am assuming you took off the end pieces that run up the side of the door and around the edges of the dash.

Yes. But putting them back is my problem. There is not enough space there. I was considering trimming those end pieces, but wanted to know if anyone had suggestions first. With them off, the body color shows on the corners near the door jams. Maybe I wasn't clear. I didn't trim the cap at all.

I may not be understanding your question, but the trim pieces actually set on top of the cap I guess to hide any imperfections where the dash meet the windshield. I would send you a pic of mine but am on vacation in Ft. Lauderdale board out of my mind missing my car. If no one has sent you any by Sunday I will when I get home Sunday night.

That is the problem. With the cap there is now not enough room for those end trim pieces to fit back where they came out. I would rather not cut them up till I know what others have tried. But I am sure the space where they belong is now way to tight. I can't be the only one that has faced this issue. Maybe I should have cut away the edges of the cap before installation?

I know when I dry fitted mine it was too tight and started looking and found that there already on. I had to take it off and dry fit it again. Still had to trim around the dash air vents after was on was tough since I did not have windshield off. Is there no way you can get some kind if blade along the edges and trim the dash since you have your windshield off. Sounds like your only option. What did you use for adhesive? I used silicone as instructed. Wonder if you could call the dash manufacturers and ask them how to remove it?

I used the silicone supplied but all is reassembled now. Only option appears to be cutting up the end cap pieces. They are readily available if I ruin mine and cheaper than another cover.

I hate that. Is there no way you can get some kind of blade in there to with great effort trim that area?
