Pat, are you also planning an automatic trans with electronic controls? Obviously you have something different going on with your trans...

Damn.....your good...!! I figured it would take a bit for someone to catch the obvious problem with the placement of the power emergency brake.

I have the OEM automatic transmission and yes the solution will involve push buttons and probably a paddle shifter. Along with parts from a 65 Chrysler!

I really wanted to do something distinctive and I had not seen this done so I figured.....why not!?

Pushbuttons? As in mid-60's MOPAR pushbuttons?? I can't wait to see this! Learned to drive on Dad's 64 Petty Blue Belvidere wagon with the pushbutton trans. Thought it was way cooler than friends' later cars with the stick operated auto.

I am staying tuned.

Close!!!......I loved those push buttoned transmissions also, the first time I saw them I thought it was the radio!!

And to clarify the old parts are from a 63/64 Dodge Dart......

Ok, the push button electric brake was the first of the gizmo's I wanted to install, the second is the electronic push button transmission. Now I have to give Scott credit, and blame, for this idea he thought as long as we had power windows, power seats and electric brakes why not a push button transmission?

Well as it turns out these are not as readily available as Scott thought and they sure are not cheap but I thought it was a great idea so did all my research and went with Powertrain Control Solutions GSM-5000 with a brushed controller and paddle shifter.

Here is the company photo, it does not do the unit justice. This thing is built mil spec tough the equipment box is milled from a solid block of aluminum and can be mounted under the car. I will be putting it in the are of the removed back seat under the enclosure I built. The push button unit is about the size of a deck of cards.

As you can see we have now completely removed moving parts from the center console area....now we just have to come up with a cool center console to house everything and a couple of cup holders!



So about the old Dodge parts......they are cool but I will reveal their purpose at a later date!

Scott and Carlos have been busy on other projects recently but today they started putting finishing touches on my car's exterior. The wheel wells were sprayed with a rubber type paint then were covered with a flat black. It really makes a big difference bringing out the custom springs, shocks and brake calipers.









Some of the rubber gaskets are back in the car, the trunk gasket makes it pretty tight but I am sure it will loosen up after being in the heat for a few days.

The interior is next I have all the dynamat and dynapad I just need to get over to Scott's and put it in. We have a few ideas on the custom center console, I want to incorporate the high tech toys without destroying the look of the car. I also have to come up with a mounting plate that will support the GTO seats.

For now though I want to thank everyone for the great comments on the car!!

Ok here is some of the work today, Scott and Carlos connected the power emergency brake...it works great!! The full carbon fiber front spoiler I bought from Brady was mounted, I wrapped both sill panels I think they really go well with the front spoiler. I use 3M 1080 wrap, I had originally bought DI-NOCC but it was to thick for the folds on the thin metal I will use it instead on the interior trim.







We also finalized the location of the automatic shifter control unit, it is where the rear seat was mounted under the metal shelf I built. The control cable was run into the transmission tunnel on the right side. Note the cable run hole that was put in the crossmember it is 1.5 inch tube kith 1/8 walls welded on both sides. This was necessary for the data cable running to the transmission unit.













The trunk lock remote and emergency release were plumed into the car, the wire cables are protected inside copper tubing.




The fuel intake was repositioned on the tank.

Yeehaa your even close by. You'll have to bring the car up to the XXX All Italian car show they have every spring.
Still not to sure about the auto part but she's yours so have fun with it.
I need my 71 painted but not to sure I can afford the amount that was put into your paint job.

Ok so we are finally putting stuff back onto the car....yippee!!!

The pass thru to the rear seat area is finished the transmission cables and audio system will pass thru this hole



The fuel tank filler is complete and fits great, it still need a final coat of gloss paint.




I will add a few more pictures later, photobucket is freezing up.

Installed the new iOS on my iPad, apparently Photobucket didn't get the word a new one was coming out as their App is not stable on the new system.

Here is the back of the car with the bumpers and taillights installed, it came out better than I thoght it would

Ok, so here is the last of the body modifications, I always thought a hod scoop was needed but I could not figure how to intergrate it into the car. So after a lot of trial and error we came up with this .........











As you can see it has not been finished but I think it will really go with the lines on the hood.

Scott also found a slight imperfection on the hood so he completely repainted it....damn I love a perfectionist!!



And here is the controller for the transmission I don't have the paddle shifter yet, hopefully within the next week or two.
