I recently replaced axle bearings, calipers, pads, rotors, wheel studs (hex head) and brake lines all 4 wheels.
Now when I turn right (as soon as steering wheel has moved a couple of inches to right) I hear a tapping like something his hitting as thr tire makes 1 full rotation. I am using the Western Cyclone aluminium wheels that were on when I bought it, but I also replaced all tires with 165 R80 13's. The old tires were wider.
I took wheel off and can't find source. I just can't see anything that would get in the way of rotation.
Just one tap with each tire complete rotation.
Any ideas. And no, nothing stuck in tire threads. Only happens when turning right.

Brand new bearings pressed on at mechanics shop. Also as above, new calipers, pads, hoses, wheel studs. Nothing sticking out and only happens when I turn right.

did it make the noise prior to the parts replacement?

Try hitting all the wheel weights one at a time with your finger. Sometimes a loose wheel weight can make a tap when it reaches the bottom of a complete rotation. It will also tap if you bounce the tire on the ground with the wheel weight pointing down, if that is the problem. Check the inside ones too. If one is loose, take off the weight and tighten the clip.
Don't laugh, it happens, and it always taps at exactly one rotation...

Mark, no it did not make any noise before all parts replaced.
Dan, took wheel off today and checked the inside weights. They were only two weeks old but were strong and I could not pry any up with fingernail. Definitely none loose. Checked while wheel was off and still can not find anything sticking out further than it should be. Caliper bolts OK, nothing I can see that would hit backing plate.
This is a real puzzle for the books. Of course with wheel off ground and turning it as hard as I can, no sound. It has to be something to do with the back end as it torques through cornering. Maybe. So unless someone wants to volunteer to strap themselves under my axle and watch/listen as I turn a corner real slow, I fear I will never find the demon. But I am still open to any and all suggestions. I think it is more annoying than damaging, that is until my axle comes apart or something. By the way if is not axle, definitely something exterior of axle.

Re: Clicking, tapping from left rear when I turn right?
Resolved. Yesterday I went to pick up something at store. Now clicking noise was happening while driving straightforward. I returned quickly and slid under back drivers side. Low and behold, the weights inside the mag wheel were very thick and the backing plate lip (where it meets front part) had a little of the lip touching the weight. I bent the lip a mm or two back and problem solved. Simple but such an agonizing thing to track down.
Thanks for suggestions.
